Hard Math Riddles. 

Riddle #1: A checkpost for 1500 men has 64 days of food. After 4 days 300 men leave the checkpost. How long will the food last for the remaining 1,200 men?

Answer : 

64-4 = 60 days

1500 men had food for 60 days. 

1 man   1500×60 days

                                            1500 × 60

1500 - 300 = 1200 men   ----------------

                                                   1200

= 75 days  Ans.

Math Riddle For Genius

Riddle #2, Three persons X, Y and Z enter into partnership in a business. X invested RS. 8000. Y invested RS. 10000 and Z invested RS. 15000 . X profit of RS. 9750 accrued in one year. X gets RS. 125 monthly as remuneration for management. The rest of the profit distributed in the ratio of their capitals in the business. State the profit of each.

Answer : 

X's salary for the whole year amount to RS. 125 × 12= RS. 1500. The net profit, therefore is RS. 9750-Rs. 1500=RS.8250. This amount is to be divided among X, Y and Z in proportion to 8000 : 10000 : 15000 or 8 : 10 : 15

        Now 8+100+15 =33

 ~ X's share = 8/33 of RS. 8250=RS.

Y's share = 10/33 of RS. 8250=RS 2500

Z's share 15/33 of RS. 8250=RS. 3750

Hence X gets RS. 3500 ( Including salary ), Y RS. 2500 and Z RS. 3750 Ans. 

Math Teaser

Riddle #3, Divide RS. 500 among 12 men, 24 women and 34 boys so that 5 boys get as much as 2 men and 5 woman get as much as 3 men. What will each man, woman and boy get ? 

Answer : 

Suppose a man gets Re. 1

 5 boys gets RS. 2  : 1 boy gets Re. 2/5

 5 Women get RS. 3 : 1 Woman gets Re. 3/5

  Share of a man : share of a woman : share of a boy 1 :3/5 : 2/5

 Or 5 = 3  : 2

12 men get 12×5=RS. 60

24 women ; 24×3=RS. 72

34 boys  ;     34×2=RS. 68

Total= 60+72+68=200

Value of 1 share = Rs. 500/200= RS. 2.5

A man gets =5×Rs. 2.5=RS. 12.50

A woman gets=3×Rs.2.5=RS.7.50

A boy gets=2×Rs.2.5=RS.5 Ans.

Hard Puzzle

Riddle #4, A population of a town increased by 4% during 1960 and decreased by 4% during 1961. Its population at the end of 1961 was 7488. What was it at the beginning of 1960?

Answers : 

Population in 1961 = 7488×100/96

 = 7800

Population in 1960=7800×100/104

= 7500 Ans.

New Math Riddle

Riddle #5, The average age of 8 persons is increased by 2 years when one of them whose age is 24 years is replaced by a fresh man. What is the new person age? 

Answer :

Number of persons = 8

Increase in average = 2 years

 Total increase = 8×2 = 16 years

Age of the outgoing person=24 years.

 Age of the new person = 24+16

 =40 years Ans.

Can you solve?

Riddle #6, Daniel can do one thing in 20 days, and Smith in 30 days, John in 12 days. How long will it take them to complete it together?

Answer : 

Daniyal 1 day's work = 1/20

Smith 1 day's work = 1/30

John 1 days's work = 1/12

Daniyal, Smith and John together can do 1/20 + 1/30 + 1/12

of work in 1 day; that is 

        3+2+5

----------------------- or 1/6 of work in 

           60

1 day. 

   The whole work is done in 6 days.
